New 73 metre mural to brighten up Harbourside area
Thu 29 July 2010
Tomorrow will see the addition of a new mural being put up in the Harbourside. A collaboration between At-Bristol, Bristol City Council and Destination Bristol, the mural will celebrate Harbourside life and cover up the large blue hoardings that run from one corner of Millennium Square, round to Bordeaux Quay.
The design, produced by Hannah Broadway, is a pictorial description of what the Harbourside area is all about – festivals, art, boats, ferries, science, pirates, friends, food and drink, it’s bringing a plain space to life.
Donna Speed, Commercial Operations Director for At-Bristol, said: “We’re thrilled to have worked with the City Council on this mural. The hoarding is much nicer decorated and it brings a fantastic sense of what this area of Bristol is all about.”
Hannah Broadway, the artist of the mural, said: “It was lovely to be asked to design this ‘life on the Harbourside’ mural. There’s so much that goes on in this area so it was a case of putting it all together to make a colourful, bright scene. I’ve also done it so the images link with the side they’re facing; the Planetarium onto Millennium Square, the boats and ferries facing the waterfront and the Arnolfini facing them. It’s going to be great to see it up!”
